Knowledge, Differences, and Harmonies in the Time of Globalisation <A Conference in 4 Panels>

"...This conference explores the question and the role of the university in the time of globalization.  On the one hand, the university serves as an institution in relations between knowledge and the state.  While on the other hand it serves as an idea, a potentiality of mind. In May, 2009 we come together from different lands and different continents at the dawn of the new millennium to revisit ideas and discuss how we organize knowledge by way of power, culture, communication and ways that such discourse relates to differences and possible harmonies in issues yet to be resolved or fully understood."

The Dates are 21 May through 22 May 2009

Location:  Eastern Mediterranean University, Famagusta TRNC

Scope of the conference:  International Higher Education

"...Importance to EMU: The conference brings scholars from the international research community to EMU and focuses on issues that are timely in discussions about higher education around the world. The conference suggests and directs our attention toward new and fruitful areas of research. It renews our interest in the domains of research, teaching, preparation and learning at the same time as we develop Quality Assurance Systems in our university. Importantly the conference will raise awareness of Cyprus issues with representatives from international ties in a manner that can enhance the ongoing search for reconciliation and peace on o ur island."
