USAK / Cyprus Policy Center

More... »

Activities

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I would like to thank the Transnational Radical Party, specifically to Mr. Cappato, Mr. Pannella, Mr. Turco and Mr. Perduca for inviting me to this lively conference. I am a professor or rather a student of International Relations, besides being a peace activist or vice versa. And let me tell you, I love my job. International Relations is both my fulltime job and also my hobby. My passion as well as pride with International Relations comes from the very origin of this discipline. International Relations as a separate discipline was established right after WWI. The mission of the discipline was to study scientifically to find ways of preventing wars! - a very honorable mission. I take pride in my discipline. More... »

CPC Conference on "Re-Imagining Cyprus: The Rise of Regionalism In Turkey's Security Lexicon" by Dr. Alper Kaliber, 8 November 2007

The rise of regional level politics and 'regionalisation of security thinking' has been envisioned as one of the main constituents of the post-Cold War security order in international politics. The collapse of the Cold War security architecture rendered the region as the main locus of 'cooperation and conflict for states' and as the most appropriate level of analysis for scholars 'seeking to explore contemporary security affairs' (Lake and Morgan 1997, p. 6). More... »
